Air fryer potato roast/ Roasted potatoes is a crispy, spicy and delicious South Indian style roast prepared in just 10 minutes by Air frying spice masala coated potato cubes to perfection. It was a really busy day and I wanted to make something real quick a spicy side, so thought of potato roast but wanted it to be done quickly without much of hassle so chose to do it in Air fryer. I was very skeptical for the first 5 minutes after landing the potato cubes in the Air fryer and to my surprise it turned out the way we usually make potato roast with Iron kadai.
This potato roast goes well with Millet curd rice, Puliyogare, Millet bisi bele bath or Sambar sadam.
This is one super quick yet yummy potato roast recipe in Air fryer for you guys after Air fryer tandoori gobi and Air fryer Tandoori chicken drumstick. Before getting to the recipe I have prepared this potatoes roast in CRUX air fryer and the below mentioned cook time suits me, timing may vary a little according to the brand so cook/ time it accordingly. Also I have prepared this potato roast with sesame oil as it is healthy, flavorful and enhances the taste too, but you could try making it with regular oil too. - 1. Potatoes – 3 nos. (medium sized)
- 2. Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- 3. Red chilli powder – ½ to 1 tsp
- 4. Sambar powder – ½ tsp
- 5. Coriander powder – ¾ tsp
- 6. Cumin powder – ¼ tsp
- 7. Salt – to taste
- 8. Sesame oil – 1 tbsp
- * 1 cup = 235 ml
- Preheat Air fryer at 400 for 5 minutes. ( I have CRUX air fryer at home and the below mentioned cook time suits me, timing may vary a little according to the brand)
- Meanwhile, wash, peel and chop potatoes into small cubes.
- In a wide bowl add chopped potato cubes to it add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, sambar powder, salt, cumin powder and a tsp of sesame oil. Massage the potatoes well with masala so that it is fully coated. You could sprinkle few drops of water for the masala to coat well.
- When the air fryer is preheated brush a tsp of sesame oil on the baking rack/ place a parchment paper on the baking rack (prevents potatoes from sticking) then add the masala coated potato cubes in the Air fryer rack. Drizzle ½ tsp sesame oil. Now cook for 5 minutes at 400F/ 204C.
- After 5 minutes remove the rack from the air fryer and toss the potatoes and cook for 2 to 5 minutes. After 2 to 5 minutes (a total of 7 to 10 minutes) you will notice that the potatoes are evenly roasted and cooked crisp. Serve the potatoes hot.
How to make Air fryer potato roast with step by step images
