Paneer tikka pizza/ Paneer pizza is a desi style pizza prepared with regular pizza base. It is topped with homemade pizza sauce, tikka paneer, onion, green pepper and cheese.
Paneer tikka pizza is one such delicious fusion pizza. We have loved eating for the past 6 years in a curry pizza house here, and since we missed eating it due to the lockdown I thought to try my version of it. Yes, I made it at home and it turned out excellent.
For this paneer pizza recipe, you need to make the dough first, that is sure for which I have exact measurements, then the pizza sauce, then marination and roasting of paneer. Though it sounds TDS all this can be done in 2 hours; and your family/ loved ones can enjoy delicious desi style pizza at home.
This is a paneer pizza is baked version but you can try making the same pizza in stove top method like this recipe STOVE TOP PIZZA or TAWA PIZZA or you can try making it more healthy by making it with whole wheat just like this WHOLE WHEAT PIZZA.
For this paneer pizza recipe I marinated and roasted just the paneer and not the veggies. I thought too much double roasting veggies might make the veggies loose its crunchy texture. Also might get soggy and not appealing.
Also I have made pizza sauce with Italian herbs to make it fusion. But if you want it to 100% desi style instead adding Italian herbs you could try adding red chili powder and garam masala powder as well. You could also prepare this sauce a day before and store in refrigerator as the sauce stays good for 3 days in the fridge.
And for the final garnish you can add chopped coriander as well on the pizza and they will taste super yum and that is how it is served here is curry pizza house. So let’s get to the making!

HOW TO MAKE PANEER TIKKA PIZZA WITH STEP BY STEP IMAGES
- Take ½ cup warm water in a cup, to it add yeast and sugar. Mix well and keep it aside undisturbed for 10 minutes until frothy. Always make sure to take luke warm water, a temperature that shouldn’t hurt when put your finger in water. This step is very important because only warm warm water can activate yeast which is again very important to help the dough rise.
- Now in a bowl add all purpose flour, salt and oil. Mix well.
- Now to the flour mixture add frothy yeast mixture. Mix everything well and knead it into soft dough. If the dough is very soft and little sticky even more good as it will yield soft pizza. Kneading a soft dough is very important in yielding soft pizza base. Cover the dough and keep it aside for an hour or 2 in warm place. (This rest time will help dough to double in size and will create aeration). Do not skip the resting time.
- Meanwhile in a bowl add paneer cubes to it add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, curd, salt and garam masala powder.
- Now heat a tsp of oil in a pan to it add masala coated paneer cubes. Roast it well and this should take about 3 to 4 minutes. When the paneer looks roasted well put off the flame and keep it aside. Slice onions thin, slice green capsicum thin, chop tomatoes into tiny cubes and keep the cheese ready.
- In a mixer/ blender add chopped tomatoes and grind it into puree.
- Now heat a tsp of oil in a pan to it add chopped garlic, saute it for a minute then add tomato puree and salt. Saute well. Cover it with a lid snd cook as it will splutter a lot. This should take about 5 minutes.
- After 5 minutes of cooking add Italian seasoning and ground pepper. Mix well. When oil starts to come in the sides of the sauce it is ready. Put off the flame and keep it aside.
- After 1 to 2 hours you will notice the dough doubled in size as shown in first picture of the collage. Now pizza dough is ready to make pizza. Now punch the dough gently. Now transfer the ball of dough on to a dusted surface. Flatten the dough gently not thin nor too thick. The dough should have at least ½ inch thickness.
- Preheat oven at 450 degree F. Now transfer the shaped dough onto baking tray. Now make dent in the middle by pushing from the center to outwards. So that crust is formed. Now make holes using fork on the surface of the flattened dough. Now spread the pasta sauce/ tomato sauce.
- Then add ½ of the mozzarella cheese as first layer and then top it with paneer, onions, capsicum, and tomato.
- Now bake it preheated oven for 15 minutes. When done remove from oven and slice it and relish it hot.
