Sfouf is a moist and delicious semolina turmeric Lebanese cake. This authentic cake is flavored with turmeric, and tahini paste and pine nuts. Sfouf is an eggless cake. It is very easy to make and usually relished as tea time snack or during festivals and special occasions.
I prepared this delicious turmeric lebanese cake during Eid and wished to share with my readers. All you need to do is combine all the ingredients then bake it. No need of any hand blender or whisk.
This turmeric lebanese cake recipe uses Pine nuts which adds flavors and taste to this turmeric cake, but if you don’t have it you could try using almonds. Also this cake uses tahini paste and blossom water do not skip it. If you don’t have at home or could not locate it you could use rose water. This shall elevate the taste and flavor of the cake.
This sfouf ( labanese cake ) is a beginner friendly cake. It us also very similar to BASBOUSA CAKE or INDIAN SOOJI CAKE.

How to make Sfouf with step by step images
- In a bowl add fine semolina/ fine rava, flour, sugar, turmeric and salt. Mix well., oil, tahini paste and milk. Mix everything well and let it sit for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes add baking powder and mix well.
- Now add oil, tahini paste, blossom water/rose water and milk. Mix everything well and let it sit for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes add baking powder and mix well.
- Preheat oven at 350F/ 180C. Grease a baking tray with few drops of oil. Transfer the sfouf mixture to the baking tray. Sprinkle dome pine nuts. Place it in the preheated oven and bake it for 25 to 30 minutes. After 30 minutes broil the cake for 1 minute to achieve gold brown color. Remove from oven. Let it cool down then slice it into desired shape snd serve it.
