Maravalli kizhangu dosai/ Tapioca dosa is a delicious, soft and spongy dosa prepared by adding ground tapioca/ maravalli paste to Regular idli batter and cooked to perfection on a dosa griddle. I was so interested in making this tapioca dosa after trying Tapioca adai a year back, and trust me it tasted so yum. I am a great fan of tapioca/ maravalli kizhangu dishes and I have been making a lot of interesting dishes like this Tapioca halwa with it for quite some time but somehow miss to post it. I am really glad I finally posted this recipe and hope to post all those tapioca recipes soon.Tired of eating/ making some old dosa everyday try this maravalli kizhangu dosa and you shall love it.
Also for this recipe I used frozen taioca/ cassava because frozen ones are only available here but if you are making this adai with fresh tapioca/ maravalli kizhangu first peel the skin, wash it thoroughly to get rid of any sand and then chop it carefully. So let’s get to the making of tapioca dosa!
- 1. Tapioca/ Maravalli kizhangu – ½ cup
- 2. Idli/ Dosa batter – 2 cups
- 3. Salt – to taste
- 4. Oil – 3 tbsp (for making dosa)
- * 1 cup = 235 ml
- In a blender add cooked roughly chopped maravalli kizhangu and 2 to 3 tbsp water. Grind into fine paste. Keep it aside.
- Now take idli batter in a bowl to it add ground maravalli kizhangu mixture and mix well until fully combined. Add salt if required.
- Heat a dosa pan/ tawa. When the dosa pan/ dosa tawa is hot enough pour a ladle of batter and spread it like regular dosa. Now drizzle some oil around it. When sides lightly brown/ top looks cooked flip dosa gently and cook for few seconds and transfer it to a plate and serve it hot!
