Qubani ka meetha/ Khubani ka meetha is a delicious and a very popular Hyderabad dessert/ sweet prepared with dry apricots and sugar. How simple right? Yes this delicious sweet with just 3 ingredients always tops the list in every marriage held and is also a kind of meal finishing sweet whenever you relish some Hyderabadi biryani.
Usually this sweet appears to be in brown/ orange color depending on the dry apricots color. So that’s why you see bright orange color hyderabadi qubani ka meetha in my pic. Also the almonds from the apricots are used as garnish, since mine was seedless I used almonds from home as garnish, also you can alter the sugar quantity according to your taste and preference. - 1. Dry apricot – ½ cup
- 2. Water – 1 cup (for soaking)
- 3. Sugar – ¼ cup
- 4. Almonds – 1 tsp (sliced)
- * 1 cup = 235 ml
- In a bowl add apricots and warm water. Soak it for 2 to 3 hours.
- After 3 hours heat a pan to it add soaked apricot with water. Let it boil well with lid on in low to medium flame.
- This should take about 12 to 15 minutes. Keep an eye every now then to stir it once.
- After 15 minutes when the water is almost gone and when apricots look soggy add sugar and mix well. Let the mixture boil/ cook well. When everything looks combined and is thick in consistency put off the flame.
- Now serve the qubani ka meetha hot or cold topped with sliced almonds, custard or cream.
How to make Qubani ka meetha with step by step images
