Soya chunks kurma is a very flavorful and easy to make quick recipe that goes well with roti, idli, dosa, rice, biryani, parotta and many more main dishes. Soya chunk kurma is not only tasty but is very protein rich substitute for vegetarians. This soya chunks kurma is a simple recipe that can be prepared easily using pressure cooker in very less time without much hassle. This recipe involves grinding of coconut paste which acts as key ingredient for its taste along with whole spices. - 1. Soya chunks – 1 cup
- 2. Onion – 1
- 3. Tomato – 2
- 4. Ginger garlic paste – ½ tsp
- 5. Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
- 6. Red chili powder – ½ tsp
- 7. Coriander powder – ½ tsp
- 8. Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
- 9. Oil – 1 tbsp
- 10. Salt – to taste
- 11. Chopped Cilantro - for garnish
- 12. Green chilli - 2
- 1. Bay leaf - 1
- 2. Star anise - 1
- 3. Clove - 2
- 4. Cinnamon stick - ½
- 5. Cardamom - 1
- 6. Fennel seeds - ¼ tsp
- 7. Cumin seeds - ¼ tsp
- 1. Grated Coconut – 4 tbsp
- 2. Gram dal/ Pottukadalai – 1 tbsp
- 3. Cashews - ¼ tsp
- * 1 cup = 235 ml
- Chop onion and tomato. Heat water in a pot. Add soya chunks in it and allow it cook. After 5 minutes drain the water and keep the soya chunks aside.
- In a blender add grated coconut, gram dal/ pottukadalai and cashews. Grind it into a fine paste adding little water.
- Now in a pan add whole spices when aromatic add chopped onions and green chilli. Saute well and add ginger garlic paste to it. Saute well till the raw smell goes.
- When the raw smell of ginger garlic paste has gone add chopped tomatoes, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt. Mix well and cook till tomatoes get mushy.
- Now add the ground coconut paste to the tomatoes and give it a good stir.
- Now add cooked soya chunk along little water to it and mix everything well.
- Put on the lid and whistle and pressure cook for one whistle. When the pressure has subsided open the cooker lid and mix well. Garnish it with cilantro and serve it hot!

- Now add the ground coconut paste to the tomatoes and give it a good stir. Now add cooked soya chunk along little water to it and mix everything well. Put on the lid and whistle and pressure cook for one whistle.
