Mini idli sambar/ Sambar idli is a super delish recipe where small/ mini idli are soaked in a flavorful sambar and topped with few drops of ghee and chopped cilantro for flavor and taste. This mini idli sambar is very easy to prepare as it involves just combining of 2 dishes sambar and mini idli for which no special cooking/ technique is involved. Yes the regular idli batter can be used to make perfect mini sized idli and regular tiffin sambar goes very well with these idli. Mini idli sambar can be prepared for breakfast or served as mini tiffin with coffee to kick away that small evening hunger. The below idli recipe is made with basmati rice idli batter but the regular idli rice batter will do good too. So lets get to the making!

- 1. Idli batter – 1 cup
- 2. Tiffin Sambar – as required
- 3. Ghee – 2 tsp
- 4. Chopped Cilantro – 1 tsp
- 5. Oil – 1 tsp (for greasing idli plate)
- * 1 cup = 160 ml
- Get the batter ready. Make sure to keep the batter thick which yields in fluffy idli. Heat water in idli pot. Grease idli plates with few drops of oil. Pour ladle of batter in each idli mold and place the batter filled idli plates in the idli steamer and steam it for 12 minutes.
- When done remove the idli plate from the steamer and keep it aside for 5 minutes.
- After 5 minutes wet a spoon with little water (wetting the spoon with water helps in and scoop idli from the idli plate.
- Now in a plate place the idlies and pour sambar over it. Add little ghee and garnish it with chopped cilantro and serve it!
