Beetroot poriyal is a simple, spicy and yummy recipe made with only 5 ingredients. It is prepared by cooking beetroot and peas in slow flame without adding any water, which makes this poriyal/ stir fry more tastier than others. Though i am not a big fan of beetroot this is one such poriyal that i really love to make using beetroot, my MIL makes a huge variety of dIshes with beetroot as my hubby is great fan of beetroot. For the below recipe I have used only sambar powder for spiciness and flavor but you can use chilli powder as well. If you are beginner looking for a different and easy poriyal recipe this could be your choice. So lets get to the making!

How to make Beetroot poriyal with step by step images
- Wash, peel and chop beetroot. Now heat oil in a pan add beetroot and saute for a few seconds, then add green peas, sambar powder and salt. Mix well.
- Cover the poriyal with lid and cook in low to medium flame without adding water. An occasional stir is required in order to make sure it does not get burnt. (It took me around 15 minutes). If you want you can sprinkle little water in between to prevent burning of poriyal. When the beetroot looks tender and peas looks cooked. Put off the flame and serve.
