Channa masala sundal is prepared by cooking soaked channa then tossing it in freshly ground masala and enhanced with coconut and tempering. Channa sundal is easy to make and works well for lot of festivals. This recipe involves grinding of masala powder which is the key method in turning this sundal delicious. Lets get to the making!

Ingredients
- White Channa – 1 cup
- Coconut – 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
- Urad dal – 1 tsp
- Oil – 1 ½ tbsp
- Hing a pinch
- Salt as needed
- Curry leaves a spring
To roast and grind
- Channa dal – 1 tbsp
- Moong dal – 1 tsp
- Coriander seeds – ½ tsp
- Red chili – 2

How to make channa masala sundal with step by step images
- Wash and soak channa overnight. Pressure cook it for 2 to 3 whistles in water adding salt. Drain the water and keep the channa aside.
- Now in a pan dry roast channa dal, moong dal, coriander seeds and red chili until it becomes golden brown and aromatic. Allow it to cool down. In a blender grind it into powder.
- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds after it splutters add urad dal after it turns golden brown add curry leaves and hing then add coconut and saute for a minute then add the ground masala powder and saute.
- Now add the cooked channa in it and add salt and mix well. Serve it !
