Pesto pasta is packed with full of healthy ingredients and is also rich in color and taste. It requires preparation of pesto which is prepared by grinding spinach, walnut and other ingredients in which the pasta will be tossed. I prepared this recipe using spinach and mushroom but it can be prepared by replacing it with basil and chicken as well. So lets get to the grinding then to the making!

Ingredients for Pesto
- Spinach – 1 cup
- Walnut – 4 to 5
- Parmesan cheese – ¼ cup
- Garlic – 1
- Lemon juice – 1 tsp
- Lemon zest – ¼ tsp ( optional)
- Oil – ¼ cup
- Salt

How to make Pesto pasta with step by step images
- Boil water in a pot; add salt and a tsp oil to the rolling boil of water. Now add spaghetti in it and cook till done ( It took 10 mins for me). Now drain the water from spaghetti using colander and run the spaghetti over cold water so that it does not get sticky.
- In a blender add spinach, walnuts, garlic, lemon juice, oil, salt, lemon zest and Parmesan cheese then blend it into fine paste and set aside.
- Heat oil in a pan add chopped onions and saute then add chopped mushroom and crushed pepper to the onions. Cook the mushrooms without adding water. When done add pesto paste to it. Give it a quick stir and toss the cooked pasta it it. Switch off the flame.
- Serve it hot!
