How to make Paal kozhukattai with step by step images

  1. Take water in a pan and add salt to it.
  2. When the water starts boiling reduce the flame and add rice flour in it and mix well without forming any lumps and put off the flame. It will form an improper dough leaving the sides of the pan. When the rice flour mixture is warm knead it with your fingers to form a perfect dough.
  3. Grease hands with oil pinch very small portion of dough and roll it into small ball. Continue making balls until all the dough is over.
  4. Grease the steaming plate with oil and place all the balls in it. Heat water in a pot. When the water starts to boil in steamer, place the steaming plate with balls and steam it for 10 to 12 minutes. (You can skip the steaming method and directly add the balls to boiling milk as well.) When done remove it from steamer and keep it aside.
  5. Now in a pot/ pan add little water and milk. Mix well and allow it to boil. When the milk starts to boil add sugar and mix well.
  6. Now add the steamed balls and mix well. Allow it to boil well for 2 to 3 minutes.
  7. Finally add coconut milk and cardamom powder. Mix well and allow it to boil. (If you want the mixture to be thick mix little rice flour in little cold milk and add it to the boiling milk at this stage) When everything looks combined put off the flame and serve it hot or cold!
