Masala chai is a very flavorful and aromatic sweetened beverage prepared with spices like cardamom, clove, peppercorn, cinnamon stick and ginger chunk for added flavor and goodness along with milk and tea powder. Masala chai/ Masala tea is a slight variation of regular tea/ chai of course with loaded flavor popularly consumed in India is very easy to prepare at home and anyone who tastes it once will get addicted to it due to its taste. So lets get to the making!

Ingredients

  • Water- 2 cups
  • Milk- ¾ cup
  • Tea powder- 1 tbsp
  • Sugar – 3 tsp
  • Clove – 2
  • Peppercorn – 2
  • Ginger- tiny chunk
  • Cinnamon stick- ½ stick
  • Cardamom- 1

How to make masala chai with step by step images


  1. In a pan/ pot add water, when it starts boiling add clove, peppercorn, ginger chunk, cinnamon stick and peppercorn. Allow it to boil for a minute or 2.
  2. When aromatic add tea powder and sugar. Mix well and allow it boil for 2 minutes or depending on the amount of strongness preferred.
  3. Now add milk to it and allow it boil well for 2 minutes. When done put off the flame.
  4. Place strainer over a cup and pour the tea in it, discard the waste and transfer the tea to the serving glass and enjoy!
